Description
The Golden Age is a period in the Dutch history that lasted from 1575 – 1675. The Dutch republic experienced a time of great wealth and arts and crafts, like painting, flourished. The picture on this plate is based on the painting The Threatened Swan by Jan Asselijn (Dieppe 1610 – Amsterdam October 1 1652). Asselijn was a Dutch painter of landscapes and animals. The Threatened Swan is his most famous work. The painting is on display at the Rijksmuseum.
