Description
The Golden Age is a period in the Dutch history that lasted from 1575 – 1675. The Dutch republic experienced a time of great wealth and arts and crafts, like painting, flourished. The picture on this plate is based on the painting Still Life with Flowers in a Glass Vase by Jan Davidsz. De Heem (Utrecht, April 1606 – Antwerp between September 18 1683 and September 18 1684). Jan Davidsz. De Heem was a Dutch painter who only painted still lives. Still Life with Flowers in a Glass Vase is on display in the Rijksmuseum.
