Blauw Vouw Dinner plate White

Enjoy a tasty dinner with this dinner plate from the Blauw Vouw collection. The original collection contains tableware that is decorated with Delft blue cherry blossom, but this dinner plate is completely white. Just like a pure, white sheet of paper. The inspiration behind this collection is the ceramic tradition between Asia and The Netherlands, that have been intertwined for centuries. Designer Romy Kühne makes this connection visible by combining the Asian folding art origami with traditional Delft blue porcelain. Origami is a symbol for peace and harmony. This plate is made by using hand folded paper molds and covering them with clay. Just like an unwritten sheet of paper, we left the porcelain white this time. Pure and without any distractions, so that all focus goes to the special craft of Delft blue pottery. Something that matches Romy’s ideals: “In a time where mass production and ‘fast techniques’ such as 3D printing are taking over in the world of design, I would like to put the focus on the old crafts. That is why I combine the old crafts with some modern techniques and the Blauw Vouw collection is a perfect example of that.”
