Heinen Delfts Blauw

You can recognize Loes van Delft's style by a combination of quirky characters, who are very charming and endearing in their own way, and the use of color that makes you happy. Loes van Delft graduated from the St Lucas Art Academy in 2012. Her work can now be admired worldwide, and she has exhibited alongside well-known names such as Banksy, Mr. Brainwash and Blek Le Rat. Her most famous character is 'Pjipje'. The figure with one big and one small eye even adorns Justin Bieber's jacket and goes worldwide. "Pjipje is what I want to make famous. A kind of Mickey Mouse. An image that everyone knows."

Heinen Delfts Blauw has admired the artworks of Loes for a long time, and at the same time, she often thought about doing 'something with Delft blue', so the two found each other. The dazzling cartoon style of Loes and the traditional Delft blue painting of Heinen Delfts Blauw. How do you bring these two worlds together? A nice challenge! The classic, traditional Delft blue painting and the funky cartoon style of Loes may not seem like a match at first sight, but… challenge accepted! When you bring two conflicting, creative currents together, something unique emerges.

The goal of Heinen Delfts Blauw is to make Delft blue return to all Dutch households in all kinds of cool, modern and stylish ways that, at the same time, honor the tradition of the age-old craft. Loes van Delft hopes to add color, cheerfulness and playfulness to life with her art. Loes's exuberant painting style forces Heinen Delfts Blauw to work outside the traditional Delft blue frameworks, which fits well with the motto of the family business: 'creating new traditions'.

The collection of Loes van Delft for Heinen Delfts Blauw consists of five wall plates. Two wall plates have been released in Loes's characteristic sparkling colours; the other three have the Delft blue colour. Pjipje plays the leading role in three designs, while the other two plates introduce us to new figures. Loes' well-known painting style is complemented by traditional Delft blue details, which merge surprisingly well.

The new wall plates are available from today on heinendelftsblauw.com and in the Heinen Delfts Blauw stores in Amsterdam and Delft!
